Angelina Jolie just added another honour to her list of awards, and she thanks daughter Vivienne for it. The Hollywood A-lister attended the event at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theatre in New York City with her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne, whom she shares with her former husband Brad Pitt.
After the Broadway version of ‘The Outsiders‘ won Best Musical, Angelina and Shiloh—who worked as producer and producer’s assistant, respectively—celebrated their first Tony Awards victory. Here’s how Vivienne contributed to the victorious project.
Angelina Jolie’s First Broadway Win
Angelina Jolie, who produced ‘The Outsiders: A New Musical‘, just won her first Tony Award and it’s a big victory for the actress.
It was Jolie’s 15-year-old daughter, who had persuaded her mother to see a production of the musical in La Jolla, California, that brought her to the Tony Awards stage on Sunday. Both Jolie and Vivienne Jolie provided notes on the popular Broadway version.
The Outsiders takes place in Tulsa, 1967, and tells the tale of Ponyboy Curtis, 14 years old, his two brothers, and closest buddy Johnny, who together make up the Greasers, a rival gang of wealthy people who they must overcome in order to survive.
Talking about Vivienne’s contribution to the show, Jolie said, “My daughter Viv loves theatre. She appreciates all theatre but she certainly knows what she feels close to and what she responds to.” Jolie added that her and Vivienne “went to see The Outsiders at La Jolla about five times and was telling me about it, and I had read the book, and I’d seen the film years ago.”
She added, “It was a very different experience of understanding, of how this is having a significant effect on her as a young person right now, and she’s communicating something to me, and that is the power of this material, and then I had the privilege of watching everyone work over this last year to make it into what it is, and Vivienne has been there the whole way.”

All About Vivienne Jolie
Vivienne, the youngest child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has already started walking in her parents’ footsteps.
The 15-year-old was born in Nice, France, in July 2008, the youngest of six siblings, along with her twin brother Knox. She spent most of her childhood away from the spotlight, but she did appear with her mother on the red carpet and even worked on projects together. Vivienne played a younger Aurora in her mother’s 2014 film ‘Maleficent‘, starring Elle Fanning.
Vivienne is also a huge theatre head which explains her involvement in ‘The Outsiders’.
