Ever since reports ensued of Barry Keoghan‘s breakup with Sabrina Carpenter, the actor has been at the other end of intense cyberbullying from fans, who filled social media pages with hate aimed at Keoghan, based on allegations that he cheated on Carpenter with an influencer.
Though Sabrina has not yet spoken up about the rumors, the actor did, as he went on to X to address the situation, sharing an update on the breakup and asking fans to be more mindful of their behavior. Here’s what he said.
Barry Keoghan Addresses Rumours That He Cheated On Sabrina Carpenter
Multiple reports came out that accused Barry Keoghan of cheating on Sabrina Carpenter, who were close to celebrating two years of their relationship. A certain blind item on a celebrity gossip site claimed that Keoghan cheated on the pop star with influencer Breckie Hill, who has also addressed rumours of being a ‘homewrecker.’

Hill went on to TikTok and shared a video where she said, “To put it simply for you all, no, I did not get with Barry. I have never even encountered this man in my life. The only time I’ve seen him is on my TV screen from watching Saltburn,” she captioned the video and wrote, “Addressing everything.”
Barry too got to X to address the ‘baseless’ allegations against him, writing about how fans are being hateful towards him and his family members as he wrote, “I can only sit and take so much,” adding that he has been “dragged across the internet.”
“I have to respond now because it’s gettin to a place where too many lines are being crossed. I deactivated my [Instagram] account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work,” he wrote.
He continued and said that the kind of messages he read, “no person should ever have to read” adding, “Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.”
He also added that fans have been harassing his family, as he requested they keep his son in mind, who has to read all the nasty comments about his father as he grows up.
Why Did Barry Keoghan And Sabrina Carpenter Break Up?
Sources spoke to US Weekly about the breakup, indicating that it happened because of their conflicting schedules amidst both of their careers, which has been flourishing.
“It’s been challenging for their relationship since Sabrina went on tour,” a source told Us Weekly. “Their schedules were not aligning, and all the time apart made it difficult to maintain a connection.” The source added that Carpenter’s career “pulled in so many directions,” and that “a bulk of the issue is she barely has time for herself let alone for a relationship.”

Another source said, “They are cordial, and it was not contentious. Both agreed it wasn’t working. That was something they struggled with, being in different places all the time.”
A third source spoke to PEOPLE and said, “He was a fantastic boyfriend to her and was very present through all she was going through as her career took off – he worked very hard to be there for her when she needed someone most. They had a great relationship and he really cared deeply about her – which you could see via the comments he would often leave on her Instagram page.” They also added that infidelity was never a factor in the relationship, adding, “He was always very faithful to her from the start, there was no third party involved in their break or at any other point in their relationship. Reports indicating otherwise are entirely fabricated.”
