As his divorce proceedings with Angelina Jolie continue, Brad Pitt has reportedly launched a legal battle against Russian entrepreneur Yuri Shefle who acquired Jolie’s share in 2021. Pitt has accused the big-shot businessman of bullying tactics.
The dispute originally began after Jolie sold her 50 percent stake in the business as the two separated. Pitt then went on to sue her in February 2022 for breach of promise, alleging that she violated an agreement to offer him first refusal. In response, Jolie’s former investment company Nouvel filed a cross-complaint of $350 million, accusing Pitt of years of “pugnacious” behavior.
According to a source, Pitt has spent an estimated $10 million on legal fees thus far. “Pitt is believed to have spent an estimated $10million so far on lawyer’s fees. But that is not money wasted, he believes,” a source close to the actor was quoted as saying by Page Six.
“This is all about standing up to bullies and defending his own people, principles and the truth. Brad is standing firm for what he believes in,” he added.
Reports suggest that Brad Pitt has also claimed that he was “ultimately threatened” by the tycoon. “Shefler personally took action to foster his supposed partnership with Pitt after the transaction closed,” the court filing in the matter reads.
“Writing Pitt repeatedly to bully him into going along. Since acquiring Nouvel, Shefler has suggested a meeting between himself and Pitt to ‘discuss the way forward. At times, Shefler expressed his fervent desire to work with Pitt. At others, he threatened Pitt based on drummed-up charges of mismanagement at Miraval,” it adds.
