Camila Cabello Carries A Block Of Ice To The Met Gala Red Carpet. Here’s Why

The Meta Gala this year was a star-studded event, with celebrities showing up in their best avatars and donning some mind-blowing costumes. While some stood out with their elegant outfits, some others pulled off odd choices of ensembles.

Camila Cabello was also among the many celebrities who made a striking entrance at the 2024 Met Gala. However, what stole the show was her accessory. Instead of a purse or a bag, the singer was seen carrying a brick-sized block of ice on the red carpet. Here’s why.

Camila Cabello turned heads at the Met Gala 2024 with her shimmering attire, but what made her stand apart was a literal block of ice she was seen carrying around. The 27-year-old  walked the red carpet at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, wearing a bedazzled silver dress with a high slit up the front.

The singer completed her look with her hair put up in a sleek ponytail. However, many couldn’t help but notice an odd-looking clutch she was carrying — until they noticed it wasn’t a clutch at all.

Cabello replaced her traditional handbag with a block of ice with a black rose in the middle. The move came as a clever nod to this year’s theme of the Met Gala, ‘The Garden of Time’.

Speaking about her Met Gala outfit and the block of ice, Camila Cabello told Extra that she collaborated with stylist Jared Ellner and designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin for the floor-length gown covered in crystals.

She also appreciated the theme of the event, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, stating that she feels like “it is impermanence and things decaying over time and the beauty in that, so there are sort of rips toward the ends of my dress.”

When asked about her ice-block purse with a rose frozen inside — which was melting as she spoke — Camila explained the reason behind carrying it. She revealed that the ice was actually a purse that broke about five minutes into being in line.

It was a purse, but then it broke about five minutes into being in line so I called my stylist like, ‘What do I do?’” Cabello said they eventually decided to “take it as a clutch.” “We’re just trying things here,” she added.

Other than her shining in her bedazzling outfit and an odd choice for a purse, Camila also announced her new album, C,XOXO!, set for release on June 28.
