Chris Hemsworth‘s fans mostly know him as the God of thunder, Thor. While his Marvel superhero image is pretty concrete, the hero is set to dive deeper into the world of Transformers. The actor is currently in talks to headline an untitled crossover film for Paramount and Hasbro Entertainment that will bring together the ‘Transformers’ and ‘G.I. Joe’ franchises.
As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Hemsworth is the top choice to take on the lead role in the said crossover. Here’s what we know about the upcoming project that has gotten fans’ anticipation high.
Chris Hemsworth To Be The Lead Face Of The Crossover Between Transformers And G.I. Franchises
Chris Hemsworth will be taking on his second role in the Transformers universe with this gig. He is also the voice star of the animated movie ‘Transformers One‘, which is scheduled for a September 20 release.
The proposed crossover film will pick up where last year’s ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts‘ left off. As per the film’s narrative, Anthony Ramos’ character, Noah Diaz, receives a job offer from the G.I. Joes. This sets the stage for this highly anticipated crossover.
Director Steven Caple Jr., who has also worked on projects like ‘Rise of the Beasts‘, had designed this ending to the first part with encouragement from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The decision was made with careful consideration of the effort it would require to bring the crossover to fruition.
However, he will not be continuing his role as the director for the upcoming part.

Director Steven Caple Jr. Steps Down From Director’s Chair For The Upcoming Crossover
Speaking about the rather ambitious project, Steven Caple Jr. was skeptical about it when the project was first approved. “The studio reacted positively, and they were just like, ‘Well, how do we do this? How do we make this happen?’” Caple told THR last year.
He also revealed that a crossover graphic novel was a potential inspiration behind the film. “It took almost two years to go through the whole system and talk to everybody and get a feel,” he said.
While Caple was initially interested in directing the crossover feature, he is not currently attached to the project. The writer or director of the film is therefore not confirmed as of now. The film will be produced by di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy, with Steven Spielberg and Hasbro Entertainment serving as executive producers.
