Former NFL star Deion Sanders and producer Tracey Edmonds announced that they are calling off their engagement on Sunday night in a joint statement on Edmonds’ Instagram account. The couple said they have decided to “move forward in life AS FRIENDS.”
Along with the announcement, the couple also said they are grateful for the support they have received from each other over the years. Both of them also said they attach great value to the time they spent together as a couple.

Sanders And Edmond Say They Will Continue “As Friends”
“To EVERYONE who has been there for us, supported us, and shown us love…We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life AS FRIENDS and have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we’ve shared together,” Edmonds and Sanders wrote in the joint statement on her Instagram page.
“Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this transition. Thank you for being there for us ALL THESE YEARS! We love you and appreciate you SO MUCH!” she added along with praying hands and a red heart emoji. Sanders commented on the post, with praises for Edmonds.

Deion Sanders and Tracey Edmonds, both 56, met first during a movie premiere party in 2012. Though they did not talk much during the time, Sanders said he was captivated by Edmonds. He made sure to get her business card that very night.
Their relationship bloomed further during the reality series ‘Deion’s Family Playbook‘ and turned into a romantic one. The couple was in a long-distance relationship for a while. Sanders had at the time said that both of them are at a stage in life where they value their independence and career.

The Couple Said They Have Busy Schedules
Deion Sanders is a two-time divorcee, while Edmonds is the CEO of Edmonds Entertainment Group. Both said they are on the same page about the irregular nature of their schedules and the effort they put into spending time together.
“Tracey is a go-getter; she is that. I get up early, and she knows I’m up working out and I’m ready to go get it,” Sanders said during an interview with People. “It’s a blessing, but we understand each other because we’re busy in our own right,” he added.
He said he loves “what both of us contribute to society and to this world,” while they’re apart. “It’s not just a separation because you want to be separated, it’s a separation because you are active and you are really influencing lives,” he added.
The couple had announced their engagement in an Instagram post by Edmonds in 2019 on Valentine’s Day. In the post, she highlighted that they have been together for eight years.
“Happy Valentine’s Day Fam! Sending LOVE to MY LOVE/MY FIANCÉ @deionsanders! ❤️💍,” she captioned a photo of her and Sanders smiling. “God is SO GOOD! We’re 8 years in, made it through the storms TOGETHER, and will be spending the rest of our lives TOGETHER!” she said.
Both Sanders and Edmonds have their children from previous relationships. As the couple part ways romantically, they are sure they will sustain their friendship with the love and respect they have for each other.
