Rihanna and Drake met for the first time back in 2005 while shooting for her first debut single ‘Pon de Replay.‘ He appeared as an extra in the video, which he confirmed later in the 2016 MTV Video Vanguard Awards. Four years later, in 2009, they first sparked rumors of dating.
They were seen together in an NYC bowling alley and were spotted kissing. However, Rihanna, later on, squashed any rumors of them dating, emphasizing that they were “just friends.” Drake even mentioned Rihanna in his 2010 song ‘Fireworks,’ mentioning about the two’s special night.

After Rihanna’s comment on the two of them being just friends, Drake also went ahead to claim that the ‘Kiss It Better’ singer used him just as a “pawn.” In a 2010 interview with New York Times, he said what Rihanna did “feels terrible.” However, later that same year, Drake was featured in Rihanna’s song ‘What’s My Name?‘
Over the years, both singers collaborated on a lot of music videos and albums and were often seen together outside of work. Drake even called her his “ultimate fantasy” at one point. After being in an on-and-off relationship for so many years, things finally ended in 2018, when she confirmed it in a Vogue interview.
