Now, Turner has shared the charming story of how their relationship first began, revealing a surprisingly perfect meet-cute that involved a mutual friend’s birthday party, a bestselling novel, and what he believes were unmistakable signs that they were meant to cross paths.
How Dua Lipa And Callum Turner First Met
Callum Turner recently opened up about the first time he met Dua Lipa. The actor revealed that they crossed paths at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Los Angeles.
During the event, the two sat next to each other and quickly discovered an unusual connection. They were both reading the same book at the same time. “We sat next to each other and realized we were reading the same book, which is crazy,” said Turner in an interview with The Sunday Times.
The book was ‘Trust‘, and things got even stranger when they realized they had both just finished the first chapter. “It’s called ‘Trust’ and I had just finished the first chapter and I told her and she looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter too,’” Turner shared. Turner then came up with a line that sounds like it belongs in a romantic comedy. “I said, ‘So we’re on the same page.’“
Looking back, Turner said the moment felt like more than just a coincidence. He believed the universe was sending him a very clear message. “In the movie version of it, I look up to the sky, and I’m like, I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don’t worry.” Not long after that first meeting, romance rumors started to spread.

Over the following months, they were spotted together several times. One of the most talked-about outings happened at a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles, where photographers captured them kissing. In July 2024, they made their relationship Instagram official when Lipa shared photos of the two enjoying the Glastonbury Festival. Earlier this year, they also attended the Met Gala together.
As their relationship continued to grow, Lipa became more open about her personal life. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she spoke about learning to embrace love and vulnerability.
“That vulnerability is so scary, but I feel so lucky to get to feel it,” she said. “I’ve spent a lot of time being guarded or protecting my heart, and so I’m letting go of that feeling and just being like, ‘Okay, if I’m supposed to get hurt, then this is what’s going to happen.’ I have to just allow love.”
