Actor Ryan Reynolds, known for his portrayal of the irreverent anti-hero Deadpool, has encountered an unexpected challenge: his own basement. More specifically, a life-sized replica of his Deadpool costume stored there has become a source of unintended fear for his children.
According to Ryan, the suit in his basement is striking fear in the hearts of his children. Even the hilarious Deadpool can be unintentionally terrifying when it comes to children. During a recent appearance on Today, Reynolds spilled the beans about his not-so-merry basement dweller.
Ryan Reynolds Talks About His Deadpool Suit Giving Him And His Children Nightmares
Ryan Gosling recently appeared on the Today show for an interview to promote his upcoming film ‘IF‘ when he also shared some anecdotes about his kids. Savannah Guthrie, the co-host of the show, jokingly asked Reynolds about his kids’ imaginary friends.
“Do your kids have any imaginary friends?” she inquired. Reynolds with his comedic timing added “At least it’s not Deadpool. That would be…that’s NSFK,” the co-host said, referring to the movie’s “Not Safe For Kids” rating.
However, it turns out, that reality isn’t far off from a comedic nightmare. “No, I ruined them with that because I have the original suit…like a mold of my body downstairs in the basement,” Reynolds admitted. Apparently, the imposing figure lurking in the shadows gave one of his children quite a scare.
“One night and one of my kids went down there, screamed bloody murder,” he said. Reynolds, ever the relatable dad, took the incident in stride. “I ran down there because I forgot it was down there and I screamed bloody murder,” he confessed.
“So yeah no, everybody’s pretty well damaged,” he added with a chuckle.

Ryan Reynolds’ Experience With Fatherhood Has Always Been Entertaining
This isn’t the first time Reynolds has opened up about the slightly chaotic world of fatherhood. He and his wife, actress Blake Lively, share four young children, and it seems the Reynolds household is a laugh-a-minute affair, even if some of those laughs come at the expense of a misplaced superhero suit.
Reynolds has also asserted that being a father provides him with endless material, and he isn’t afraid to share the hilarious chaos. He often tweets about the power struggles of potty training with a touch of sarcasm, or describes his mornings as an unpredictable dance with anxiety, wondering what wild adventure his kids will cook up next.
