Kesha has never shied away from making bold statements through her music. She is unraveling her bold self yet again quite unapologetically as she recently altered the lyrics of her 2009 hit ‘Tik Tok‘ during a performance to target Sean Diddy Combs — the music mogul currently in a legal rut because of several sexual assault allegations made against him.
While performing at the OUTLOUD Raising Voices for WeHo Pride in West Hollywood on Friday, Kesha changed the opening line to take a dig at Diddy, while flipping off the audience which cheered the change in lyrics. Here’s what happened.
Kesha Changes The Lyrics Of Her Song To Take A Dig At Sean Diddy Combs
Kesha was delivering her first solo concert set of 2024, when she altered her starting lyrics and sang, “Wake up in the morning like ‘F— P. Diddy!’”. Not expecting the diss, the crowd was seemingly flipped off and ended up cheering the lyric change enthusiastically.
Kesha was reading off the large text visualizer behind her, which made her message against Diddy unmistakably clear. This is not the first time that Kesha has altered the lyrics of her songs. In April, she did the same thing during a surprise appearance with Reneé Rapp at Coachella.
Last night at WeHo Pride, Kesha changed the lyrics to her song “Tik Tok” from “wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy” to “F*** P Diddy.”

This is not the first time Kesha changed these lyrics. Amid lawsuits against Diddy, she sang this version of her song back at Coachella. pic.twitter.com/OeZXH1naRL
This time too, she sang the original line as “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy.” Ironically, in the original recording of her song ‘Tik Tok’ actually features Combs saying “Hey, what up, girl?” after Kesha shouts him out.

Kesha’s decision to take a stand against P. Diddy comes amidst serious allegations against him. In November, singer Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit accusing Combs of sexual assault, abuse, and controlling behavior, and triggered several similar allegations made by many women eight from teenage girls to models in Hollywood.
Though the lawsuit filed by Ventura was settled the very next day, many other cases have put Diddy under severe scrutiny since. The whole fiasco also involved a federal investigation and raids on Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami for sex trafficking.
Combs has denied all allegations. But the controversy was further fueled when a resurfaced video showed Combs beating Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel, for which he later issued a public apology.
Kesha’s actions are also motivated by her own experiences with abuse in the music industry. In 2014, she sued her former producer Dr. Luke, accusing him of rape, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and emotional abuse over a decade. Although her case was dismissed in 2016, and Dr. Luke sued her for defamation. The legal battle ended with an out-of-court settlement.
