Jodie Foster’s Way Of Protecting Her Children
As surprising as it sounds Jodie Foster’s kids didn’t know how big of a star she was growing up, so it is quite understandable why she would do so. The pressure of living up to one’s parent’s fame is indeed a very real phenomenon. “If you had to fight for a life that felt real and honest and normal against all odds, then maybe you too would value privacy above all else”, she said at Golden Globes in 2013.
She explained she wanted to be seen as a mother to their kids first and foremost, the whole world could see her as an acclaimed veteran actor but to her kids she wanted to be a good mother. She told the ‘The View‘ host Ana Navarro, “I don’t know why, I guess I just didn’t want them to know me that way,” and “I wanted them to know me as their mum and the person who went away to work and stuff. I just didn’t want them to be confused about what I did for a living.”
She also shared a rather innocently funny incident where her oldest kid Charles Bernard Foster as a kid thought that she worked as a construction worker. “And for a really long time, he thought I was a construction worker. He thought I did construction,” she added.

About Jodie’s Two Sons
Jodie has mothered two sons, the oldest Charles Bernard Foster (25), and the younger one, Christopher Bernard Foster (22) with her ex-wife Cydney Bernard. She shared how the two kids have a stark contrast between them. Charles, she admits gained interest in the showbiz industry.
She shared a humorous little conversation saying, “[Charles said] ‘I want to be in movies. Why can’t you get me a job?’ Then I say, ‘You have to earn that. If you want to be an actor, you can start by doing a little theater.’ Then he says, ‘I’m not interested in that. I just want to be famous and see my face.”
Christopher who is nicknamed Kit by his mother is someone who is just the opposite. Jodie added how Christopher is quite shy and a bit sensitive too. She even admitted she looked quite a while allowing Kit to watch ‘The Silence of the Lambs’. She also assured the public how Christopher in retrospect of his brother’s way would never even consider joining Hollywood.
