The first weekend of February 2024 could not get better, as Ayo Edebiri will be handling the hosting duties on ‘Saturday Night Live (SNL)’ with musical guest Jennifer Lopez. Ayo created a storm during the recent awards season, sweeping all major awards for her role in the culinary drama ‘The Bear’. JLo is coming out with a musical drama and a sequel to her 2002 album, ‘This Is Me…Now’.
Ayo Edebiri, in a short period, has become people’s princess instantly due to her stellar performances in ‘The Bear’ and ‘Bottoms Up’. She also guest-starred in Quinta Brunson’s comedy series ‘Abbott Elementary’. The Irish people have declared her a national treasure. However, on the heels of her debut SNL appearance, an old video of her taking a dig at Jennifer Lopez is going viral.
Ayo Edebiri Claims Jennifer Lopez Does Not Sing Her Song
During one of the SNL promos, Jennifer Lopez extends a compliment to Ayo Edebiri, saying, “I’m really excited, I love your show.” To this, ‘The Bear’ actress replied, “I love your everything.” However, in a now-resurfaced video, Ayo seems to take a dig at JLo’s singing capabilities.
During a 2020 podcast, ‘Scam Goddess’, Ayo Edebiri said that one of her favorite scams is Jennifer Lopez’s career.

Before the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2020, where Shakira and JLo performed, Ayo said, “Today I was actually thinking about one of my favorite scams of all time.” To this end, the host said that the ‘Get on the Floor’ artist performing at the Halftime was a scam in itself. Ayo Edebiri continued, “And her career is one long scam.”

The Actress Believes That The Singer Cannot Sing
There have been many theories going around that Jennifer Lopez has allegedly tried to steal music and used other artists to sing. It is widely rumored that Megan Trainor provided backing vocals on ‘Ain’t Your Mama’. During the podcast, the host said, “You know, JLo doesn’t know that she can’t sing?”
Ayo Edebiri continued, “She thinks she’s on multiple tracks, but it’s not her.” Edebiri then went on to say that, as she was fascinated by the singer’s career, the actress read up on multiple write-ups about how Lopez does not have time to sing all her songs.
The Emmy-winning actress went on to say, “A lot of write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J. Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio,’ like, ‘J. Lo was busy.” Edebiri quipped, “It’s like, ‘Doing what? Not singing, obviously!!”
