Elon Musk, the billionaire mogul behind ventures like Tesla and SpaceX, has had an equally interesting relationship run with the singer Grimes. It was in May 2018, when Musk shocked the internet when he made an appearance with Grimes on the MET Gala red carpet and confirmed their relationship rumors.
During the period of their three-year relationship, the Musk-Grimes pair has given multiple bizarre controversies to talk about. The feud with rapper Azealia Banks, because apparently she was stuck in their house or when Musk revealed that the name of his first son is X Æ A-12. The Origin Story Of Elon Musk And Grimes
In 2018, Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, made a nerdy pun joke on Artificial Intelligence. Considering that Musk is the SpaceX lead designer, and therefore, definitely knows all about AI, he obviously got what kind of fun Grimes was poking at AIs. He slid into her DMs on Twitter to bond over their shared sense of humor. Next thing we know, the two make an official red carpet appearance at the MET Gala on May 7, 2018.
Grimes, in fact, talked about the beginning of her friendship and eventual romantic relationship with Musk. The joke was a play on words about Roko’s Basilisk thought experiment, which she had also referenced in one of the music videos of her song, ‘Flesh Without Blood‘.
According to an insider, Page Six reported that, “Elon was researching the idea of joking about Rococo Basilisk, and when he saw Grimes had already joked about it, he reached out to her. Grimes said this was the first time in three years that anyone understood the joke. They were both poking fun at AI.”

Are They Still Together?
Musk and Grimes welcomed their second child, a daughter, named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, in December 2021. However, the couple’s relationship has been extremely on and off since September 2021, when Musk himself revealed that the two have broken up. “We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms,” he revealed.
In March 2022, Grimes revealed that she and Elon Musk are back together, however just a few days later, their breakup was again confirmed. The two seem to have their own thing, and Grimes stated of the relationship, “This is the best it’s ever been. We just need to be free.”
