After Taylor Swift literally flexing her cat everywhere, can we even talk about Tay-Tay without referring to her beloved feline friends? Taylor told Time in 2019 that her cats were the “No. 1″ influence in her life, and that her little kitties were the ones who inspired her to take the role of Bombalurina in the film adaptation of ‘Cats‘. And yes, it is true that those felines are worth much more than us commoners.
“I have cats. I’m obsessed with them. I love my cats so much that when a role came up in a movie called Cats, I just thought, like, I gotta do this,” she said, adding, “Like, this is my calling in life to do this—for the ladies. Meet The Cats Owned By Taylor Swift
Meredith Grey
Taylor bought Meredith on October 31, 2011, and she is the oldest of her pets. She is a Scottish fold cat and is named after the character Meredith Grey from Taylor’s favorite show ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘. She has often said that Meredith is one of the best cats. She doesn’t leave fur or fur balls and she is never aggressive or afraid of being around people. However, once Taylor explained why Meredith owes her $40 million.
“She is a good solid cat,” Taylor once said in an MTV interview although later in an interview on ABC she jokingly added, “The first one Meredith started out as a very friendly kitten, and then she became sort of an Internet celebrity and I think she kind of changed a little bit.”
Meredith was 2013’s most popular celebrity cat. Taylor said she knows this and so she just sits around and gives the pop star side-eye glances. When Swifties got worried about Meredith because they hadn’t seen her on social media for a few days, Swift posted a video on Instagram, saying that Meredith doesn’t like having her picture taken. “She’s just a really private little cat. She likes her business kept to herself, she doesn’t like a camera shoved in her face, and who can blame her?”

Olivia Benson
In June of 2014, Taylor got her second cat and named her Olivia Benson after the character portrayed by Mariska Hargitay on ‘Law & Order: SVU‘, which is among Taylor’s favorite television shows. Olivia Benson is a Scottish fold cat just Like Meredith although Swift says that they are polar opposites. “Then there is the new one who has terrible balance, walks into walls and like falls asleep on you purring,” she explained.
Olivia has appeared in many of Taylor’s Instagram videos/photos and was also featured in one of her Diet Coke commercials. She was also seen in Taylor’s music video for ‘Blank Space‘. On the singer’s now unavailable mobile app, The Swift Life, there is a full collection of Taymojis featuring Olivia on Swift’s earlier available mobile app. The cat is worth a whopping $97 million, making her the world’s second-richest pet.
As if that’s not enough, Olivia has been nominated for three awards – Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, Nickelodeon UK Kids’ Choice Awards, and iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Benjamin Buttons
Benjamin Button is what Taylor named her newest little cat. He is a Ragdoll kitten and is the brother of oldest sister Meredith Grey, and middle child Olivia Benson. Swift met Benjamin on the set of the music video and immediately fell in love with him. When she asked the handler, “Can I have him?“, he responded, “He is available.” Throughout the shooting of the music video, Taylor kept mentioning how adorable he is, saying that she would watch the music video and think about how that was the first time she saw him!
We saw him for the first time in Taylor’s music video for ‘ME!’ when Brendon Urie gives the cat to Taylor as a gift. I mean he is a literal celeb. A few minutes before the video came out, Taylor mentioned in the YouTube pre-release chat that she had a surprise she was keeping for months. “Oh and there’s a secret in the video that I’ve been keeping for months – let’s see who can guess it,” she added.
