Jason Momoa Doubles His Salary For ‘Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom’
The first ‘Aquaman‘ movie which was released in 2018, was directed by James Wan and earned over $1.148 billion at the box office. Now, according to a report from Variety, Momoa will be paid double the salary of his first film for ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’ The actor is being paid $15 million for his role in the sequel. It is double the salary for ‘Aquaman‘ which was around $7.5 million.
The report mentions that Momoa signed on to do a sequel as part of his original deal for ‘Aquaman’. The 42-year-old star renegotiated his contract after the first film became a major success.
‘Aquaman‘ is still the highest-grossing DCEU film and thus the expectations from the sequel are on the next level since the past few films from DC have not performed well at the box office like ‘Justice League’ and ‘Wonder Woman 1984′.
The character of Arthur Curry briefly appears in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’. Later, the 2018 film properly introduced him and the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. The details about the sequel have been kept under wraps. But fans of the character were treated to a brief appearance at the end of HBO Max’s ‘Peacemaker.’
Momoa Helped Amber Heard To Keep Her Role In ‘Aquaman 2’
Apart from Momoa, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ will also feature actors like Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
But, during the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, fans called for the removal of the actress from ‘Aquaman 2‘. entertainment industry consultant Kathryn Arnold testified on behalf of Heard and said, “Her work stopped following the accusations. Even Loreal stopped working with her. When Heard should be negotiating for her role for ‘Aquaman 2’, instead she was fighting for her life for another chance.”
She added, “The only reason that Amber was still included in Aquaman’s sequel was because of the adamant efforts of her co-star Jason Momoa. The director of the movie James Wan also fought for Amber Heard.”
