Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s unexpected romance is no less than a fairytale. Two of America’s biggest stars from completely different fields end up together, and the entire world cheers for them. The question, however is, how did Kelce land America’s biggest star? He himself doesn’t know. Or he does.
In the recent episode of his podcast, Travis Kelce expressed his own disbelief over ending up dating his current beau Taylor Swift. Highlighting that the pop sensation is not even into sports, the NFL star said he has no clue how it all happened.
The Chiefs’ tight end was hosting Lil Dicky as a guest on his podcast when the topic came up. Gushing over Kelce’s relationship with Taylor, Lil Dicky said, “I think there’s just something that makes everyone feel like the world is like high school, where your most popular pop star beloved musician somehow how met your most popular beloved athlete and they actually fell in love and it’s just real. Anyone who hates on it is a bitter loser.”
Kelce responded, “I appreciate it, man. I don’t know how I did it because she wasn’t into sports, so I don’t know how the f— I did it.” Laughing, Kelce then said, “No, I know exactly how I did it.”
How Did Travis Kelce End Up Dating Taylor Swift?
If there’s anyone Travis Kelce should thank for being able to shoot his shot with Taylor, its his lady love herself. After Taylor Swift put out track 5 ‘You’re On Your Own Kid‘ on ‘Midnights’, the song lyric that goes “make the friendship bracelets” ended up inspiring fans to make and exchange friendship bracelets. The practice became a custom during her concerts. This, ultimately, helped Travis Kelce reach out to Swift.
While Kelce was attending one of her shows, he made a bracelet for her, which he couldn’t give her. During the podcast he said, “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings. So I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
This little gesture is what caught Taylor’s attention, as she said later in her TIME magazine interview. “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said. “We started hanging out right after that.”
