Many stars we see today as successful actors once dreamt of sharing the screens with their favorite actors. While not all of their dreams may have come true, Joey King definitely lived her dream in her latest film ‘A Family Affair‘ starring alongside Zac Efron, the man she crushed over as a child.
King recently revealed that she has always been a Zac Efron fan, and working with him is a dream come true for the 24-year-old actress. The actress held no bars as she gushed about her longtime admiration for the 36-year-old star during her appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘ on Monday.
Joey King Remembers Her Childhood Obsession With Zac Efron
Speaking about her childhood crush and now co-star Zac Efron, Joey King said, “I love him. I grew up with his face on everything I owned,” as she confessed just how deep her obsession ran. When host Jimmy Fallon asked if she had a Zac Efron lunchbox, King responded, “Did I have … among everything else! All the merch that I could get my hands on and I was one of those kids, I was like, ‘Mom, the movie is going to be on at 8/7 Central. I don’t know what that means but I have to be home to watch.’ ”
“I had his face on everything and I was such a fan and he was so, so fantastic,” she added. The actress also recalled how she would insist on being home to watch his movies, even if she didn’t fully understand the TV schedule.
Asked if she nerded out on the set of the film, King revealed that she ended up telling Efron how much she loved him in ‘High School Musical’. She also recalled singing songs from the movie on set, with Efron graciously joining in. “He would sing along with me and that was so great,” she said.

Zac Efron Is All Praises For Joey King
Joey King’s childhood dream of working with Zac Efron has not only come true but has also turned into a delightful friendship beyond their professional relationship. And it’s safe to say that the admiration she has for Efron is reciprocated as the star has praised King for her skills.
During a conversation for Entertainment Weekly, he praised her comedy skills, especially in a scene where King’s character walks in on Efron and Nicole Kidman’s characters in a compromising situation. “It’s one of the funniest things ever,” Efron said, comparing her performance to the physical comedy genius of Matthew Perry.
Their film ‘A Family Affair’ portrays King as Zara, a young woman who has to deal with her mother played by Nicole Kidman falling for her famous actor boss, played by none other than Zac Efron.
