“I Just Wish I’d Called Him”: Tom Holland Regrets Not Getting In Touch With Andrew Garfield After Getting Hired For ‘Spider-Man’

It’s been a longtime tradition for the new hires to get a word of advice from the veterans. However, Tom Holland skipped that part. In retrospect, he could have handled his MCU hiring more respectfully. The young actor took the role of the teenage web swinger from Andrew Garfield.

However, after being cast as Spider-Man, Holland didn’t communicate with Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire, who played Stan Lee’s creation before him. Eventually, he could smooth things with both while filming ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ when the three of them collectively appeared as multiple versions of Spider-Man.

When Tom Holland was cast as Spider-Man, he didn’t bother to check in with Andrew Garfield. Looking back, the young British actor regrets not reaching out to his predecessor. The two eventually met on the ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ set, with Holland making up with the fellow British actor.

Tom Holland told The Hollywood Reporter, “That’s‘ because of my naivete as a kid. I was 19 when I got cast. I was so caught up in getting the role that I never took any time to think about what it must have been like for him.”

Tom Holland also opened up about the critical failure of his Apple TV series ‘The Crowded Room.‘ The British actor admits the show’s criticism “was a kick in the teeth,” saying, “Rolling over, looking up the reviews, and then all of a sudden I was like, ”Wow. That’s‘ a bad review.” Sometimes there’s‘ a redeeming quality in there. There was nothing.”

The ‘No Way Home’ actor has been honest about being wiped out from the strain of filming his Apple TV series. While filming the show, he came close to “having a bit of a meltdown” and deciding to shave his head. To recuperate from the stresses of filming, he’s taking a hiatus from acting.
