“I Still Can’t Believe It”: Priscilla Presley Recounts Her Final Moments With Late Daughter Lisa Marie Presley

Priscilla Presley, became a public figure when she was 14, living the dream life of any American teenager of the 1960s as the girl dating singer Elvis Presley. Later she became his wife, and after six years of marriage, they parted ways. And then it was their daughter Lisa Marie Presley who connected Elvis and Priscilla. 

As her story is being adapted on screen, Priscilla is getting a chance to tell her own narrative of her troubled marriage. This year had been quite hard on the actress. She lost her daughter Lisa in January a few days after they had met at the Golden Globes. And Priscilla recounts how she sensed something was not right with her daughter during her final days.

The mother and daughter, Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley met on January 10, 2023, for the Golden Globes after-party. In an interview published by The Hollywood Reporter on August 23, Priscilla admits that she knew something was off with her daughter. “I did know there was something not right.  We sat down and ordered drinks, and she says, ‘Mom, my stomach hurts really bad.’ We immediately got up and left,” the 78-year-old recounted. 

Lisa Marie passed away on January 12 this year and was rushed to the hospital after being found unresponsive at her Los Angeles area home. She was 54 at the time of death. Later the cause of her death was noted as complications due to small bowel obstruction. “I don’t wish this on any mother,” the ‘Dallas‘ actress shared her grief.

‘Priscilla’ To Premiere At Venice Film Festival

The 78-year-old Priscilla Presley will have her side of her marriage with Elvis Presley shared with the world through the movie ‘Priscilla‘. The onscreen adaptation of her life is written and directed by Sofia Coppola. The film will premiere on September 4 at the Venice Film Festival. This will be followed by its theatre release in October 2023. Coppola developed the script based on Priscilla’s 1985 memoir Elvis And Me. 

It was a different time. I lived in his world. I wanted to please him,” she said remembering her marriage. She also added how she “wanted to fit in. I wanted to have fun with him. I wanted to see what it was that he liked.” Furthermore, the upcoming movie has Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla Presley and Jacob Elordi as her husband Elvis Presley.
