Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock is easily one of the biggest names in Hollywood right now. The WWE wrestler turned actor has had a meteoric rise in the industry. He has been a part of several films that have grossed billions. He is also one of the world’s highest-paid actors.
That is why it is not surprising to know that Dwayne actually coerced a powerful studio into a decision. Johnson recently talked about how there were plans to introduce ‘Black Adam‘ with the ‘Shazam‘ universe. But The Rock felt it would not be fair for the superhero character who deserves its own stand-alone film.

Dwayne Johnson Lobbied For A Solo ‘Black Adam’ Film
In a recent sit-down with Vanity Fair magazine, the 50-year-old actor took some responsibility for the decision to split the ‘Black Adam‘ and ‘Shazam‘ films.
“When the first draft of the movie came to us, it was a combination of Black Adam and Shazam: two origin stories in one movie,” Johnson said.
He continued, “Now that was the goal — so it wasn’t a complete surprise. But when I read that, I just knew in my gut, ‘We can’t make this movie like this. We would be doing Black Adam an incredible disservice.'”
But the ‘Walking Tall‘ actor stated that “Shazam having two origin stories converge in one movie” would have been “fine.”
Johnson recalls calling the studio. “I said, ‘I have to share my thoughts here. Everybody thought, ‘Hey, this script is great, let’s go make this movie.’ I said, ‘I really think that you should make Shazam!, make that movie on its own in the tone that you want. And I think we should separate this as well.'” The Rock was attached to the project since 2008.
The Rock Shares ‘Black Adam’ Scene From ‘Super-Pets’
Dwayne recently lent his voice to multiple characters in the animated film ‘DC League of Super-Pets.’ He shared a glimpse of a potential future showdown between Black Adam and Superman.
In the end credit scene from ‘Super-Pets., we see the animated version of Superman looking at Black Adam. Dwayne voices Krypto the Superdog, who is the loyal pet of Superman.
The former wrestler also shared another post-credit scene. It shows Krypto speaking with Anubis, the anti-hero dog, about whether Black Adam is really a villain or an antihero.
The scene happens while Superman comes face-to-face with the anti-hero. ‘Black Adam’ is slated to hit the theatres in the United States on October 21, 2022.
