There is certainly a surge in engagement on Twitter since Elon Musk acquired the platform. But, the engagement is at the cost of growing chaos and consequential hampering in the quality of the platform. There have been many radical changes that Musk has introduced to revamp the microblogging platform to “Twitter 2.0”. One of the decisions was to reinstate the deactivated Twitter accounts of celebrities. In an effort, he restored Donald Trump’s account and now he is welcoming Kanye West to the platform.
The ‘Donda’ artist has been embroiled in controversies consecutively since October 2022. At the Paris Fashion Week, the rapper went bold by introducing the Yeezy line of clothing with “White Lives Matter” printed on it. After that debacle, West went on a hate-spewing spree making anti-Semitic statements. Due to this, he lost many of his brand deals, collaborations, and projects. Now, Musk has welcomed him back on the platform, but is he fanning the artist’s anti-Semitic sentiments?

Elon Musk Cryptically Supported Kanye’s Anti-Semitism
For a few months now, both the Tesla owner and the Grammy-winning artist have been on a social media roll! Since Elon acquired Twitter, he has been taking some radical decisions. Firstly, he fired half of his workforce due to a heavy loss of $4 million per day when advertisers started pulling out. Then, he fired his contract workers overseas without any notice. After this, he went into a frenzy firing engineers when they criticized him for his decisions. Despite propagating free speech, he did not stand by it.
However, recently, he has reinstated all the banned and blocked Twitter accounts including that of Kathy Griffin and Donald Trump. But, another account that was suspended for a few hours in October 2022, is rejoicing in the restoration of other accounts. Kanye West tweeted, “Testing…Testing…Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked”. For posting anti-Semitic tweets, West was suspended from the platform for 24 hours. He wrote, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I am going defcon 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE”.
Don’t kill what ye hate
Save what ye love— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 20, 2022
Shalom : )
— ye (@kanyewest) November 20, 2022
Elon Musk was quick to reply to Ye’s tweet. In the tweet, he wrote, “Don’t kill what ye hate, Save what ye love”. Kanye also tweeted, Shalom :)”, which Jews use to indicate “peace”. Looking at the recent hate-spewing behavior of Kanye, it looks like Musk has jumped on the bandwagon to support his anti-Semitism. It would be a test of time to see what actions he will take when Kanye or Trump spreads hate on the platform since he will be recruiting a “content moderation council”.

The Twitter CEO Rejoiced When Kanye West Came Back To Twitter With Hate
The two successful individuals have been showing support for each other for a long time now. So, it was no surprise to see that Musk rejoiced at Kanye’s comeback on the platform while he was in the process of acquiring the platform. In October 2022, Kanye posted tweets aimed at the Jews.
He wrote, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going def [sic] con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

He also took a dig at Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta. This came after he got suspended from Instagram for spewing hate when he shared a screenshot of DMs between him and Sean “Diddy” Combs. He wrote, “How you gonna kick me off instagram….You used to be my n****”. The SpaceX owner commented, “Welcome back to Twitter, my friend!”.
