In the upcoming book, ‘Paris: The Memoir’, Paris Hilton shared her story of abortion when she was at the pinnacle of her career, but devastated due to the news. In the book, she writes about the successful promotion of her show ‘The Simple Life’ along with co-star Nicole Richie. However, when she was inundated with attention, camera flashes, and praise, she received the news that she was pregnant.

She writes, “It all came crashing down when I realized I was pregnant at 22. It was like waking up on the ledge outside a 40th-floor window. I was terrified and heartsick. The hormones sent my ADHD symptoms spiraling.”

Paris continued, “Everything I knew about myself was at war with everything I’d been raised to believe about abortion. No one can ever know how hard it is to face this impossible choice unless she’s faced it herself.”

She revealed that she was dating a model, Jason Shaw. Though he was the perfect man who bought a house for both of them on “King’s Road”, she “wasn’t capable of being honest or loyal or whole.”  At the time, she was dealing with the trauma that the socialite had to endure at the teen correction center.

Paris Hilton weighed on why she has decided to share that phase of her life now. She writes, “Choosing to have an abortion can be an intensely private agony that’s impossible to explain. The only reason I’m talking about it now is that so many women are facing it, and they feel so alone and judged and abandoned.”

The model continued, “I want them to know that they’re not alone, and they don’t owe anyone an explanation. When there is no right way—all that’s left is what is. What you know you have to do. And you do it, even though it breaks your heart.”

Paris Hilton, in January 2023, announced that she has welcomed a baby boy, Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum, with her husband Carter Reum. The two welcomed the child through IVF. The peaceful and fulfilling life that she is leading today would not have happened in her 20s. In the book, she says that due to the trauma that she was surviving, Hilton dissuaded the idea of a happy family. But, everything changed after she met her husband.

Paris writes, “We’re now a comfortable married couple. We love our Saturday mornings when we go to the farmers’ market for fresh eggs, fruit, and veggies, which we haul home so I can cook an elaborate brunch, and then we sit there and eat and eat and talk about exquisitely nerdy things like cross-collateralization and negative pickup. We laugh a lot and take time to wonder and be grateful. We love our work, our homes, our jobs, and we adore our dogs.”

She says that the life-altering decision she took in her 20s has ended the life she is living today with her loving husband and Phoenix. She articulated, “I know I wouldn’t have this life if I hadn’t made that difficult choice in my early 20s. Women need to control their reproductive destiny. We need to know ourselves, trust ourselves, and know what’s right for us—and when—and stay in the driver’s seat.”
