The finale of ‘Young Sheldon‘ will mark the end of an era for its several fans across the world. The fanbase for the show is widespread, given it is a prequel to the iconic sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory‘. When the creators of the show announced its end with season 7, many hearts broke. But most disappointed among all were the actors of the show.
Annie Potts and Iain Armitage, who are the life of ‘Young Sheldon‘, are finding it difficult to bid farewell to the show after seven remarkable seasons. In a recent interview with Variety, the actors opened up about their reaction to the unexpected news of the show’s cancellation and the emotional toll it took on them.
“I Was Completely Unprepared”: Annie Potts and Iain Armitage Open Up About Their Feelings About ‘Young Sheldon’ Finale
Speaking about the end of ‘Young Sheldon‘ with Season 7, Annie Potts said she was shocked and in disbelief over the decision. The actress said that it was totally uncalled for to have the show ended considering the show’s immense popularity. “This one was especially hard because I was completely unprepared,” she said. “It just seemed like such a stupid business move.”
Ian Armitage, who plays the lead role of a younger version of the iconic character Sheldon Cooper, echoed Potts’ sentiments. He asserted that there was heavy potential for further storytelling on the show. “I thought we could have done a lot more,” he said.
“It’s also just hard in a really weird way that I can only really see if I step back and try and take a global view, which is hard. I mean, I’m not going to get to see Annie Potts every day. This is a real loss for me. More than anyone,” he added.

Annie Potts Is “Really, Really, Really Emotional” About ‘Young Sheldon’ Finale
Annie Potts also opened up about the impact the show has had on her life. According to Variety, she’s still “really, really, really emotional” about it. “I mean, it’s been half of Ian’s life, and it’s been a 10th of mine, but at 70, that feels significant,” she added, stating that the cast members are like a family and have “taken care of each other and raised each other up.”
The announcement of the show’s conclusion in November came as a surprise to fans and the cast alike. The executive producers of the show said they were grateful to the audiences who have lived the journey of the Cooper family with them.
The filming of the season 7 finale was wrapped up last week and reportedly also featured Jim Parsons, the older version of Sheldon Cooper in the original show ‘The Big Bang Theory‘. While filming the finale was an emotional moment for the cast, the show is set to bid farewell to its fans on May 16.
