Cameron Diaz is one of those actresses who decided to take a break from Hollywood at the peak of their career. One of the highest-paid actresses of all time, Diaz has been a part of several successful films like ‘The Mask’, ‘Being John Malkovich’ and ‘Knight and Day.’
She decided to retire from acting in 2014 and focused on writing books and investing in startups. Now, after nearly eight years of absence, Diaz is making a comeback with ‘Back In Action’. In a recent interview, the 50-year-old actress opened up about what it’s like to act after so long.

Cameron Diaz Talks About Acting After Eight Years
Cameron Diaz is finally making her comeback after eight years with ‘Back In Action‘ With Jamie Foxx. Her last film was the 2014 musical comedy ‘Annie‘, after which she decided to take a hiatus.
She recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to talk about acting after a break. “It’s a little bit of muscle memory, you know what I mean?“, she said.
The ‘Vanilla Sky‘ actress further added, “I did that for so long, it’s kind of like the process, I kind of just fell back into it. But it feels a little bit different.”
Diaz also worked with Jamie again, “The last movie I made was ‘Annie’ with Jamie, and so the first movie back is this film with Jamie,” she said. “He’s so great, he’s so easy, he’s so professional, he’s so talented, and just being able to work with him.”
The production of ‘Back In Action‘, which stars Diaz and Jamie (who is also the executive producer), begins later this year.

Jamie Foxx Convinced Her To Return To Acting
Fans of Diaz should thank Jamie Foxx for convincing ‘The Mask‘ actress to end her retirement and return to acting. He talked about how he actually convinced her.
“We just begged and pleased on my knees, like, ‘Just give the people one more again,‘” he said. “We love her, we’ve been waiting on her and this is just gonna be fantastic.”
In 2019, Diaz talked about her decision to stop acting. “The way I look at it is that I’ve given more than half of my life to the public. I feel it’s OK for me to take time for myself now to reorganize and choose how I want to come [back] into the world. If I decide to.”
After taking the break, Cameron married musician Benji Madden in 2015. The couple welcomed a daughter via surrogate in 2019.
