She came adorned in a large, black-and-white tweed Thom Browne tuxedo suit with trimmed white flowers. She looked poised as the photographers snapped quick photos and gasped with astonishment.

For accessories, she carried a white cat bag which was a homage to Choupette. She’s not the only celebrity paying tribute to Lagerfeld’s cat, with Jared Leto gracing the event in a giant feline costume. But talk about taking the assignment seriously! As if she already wasn’t classing the joint up, she unveiled her second outfit, a sequined bikini under a transparent sheer black tulle pannier dress in a scintillating strip tease.

She holds this as a special memory in her heart, as this is where she met Tilda Swindon and a community of people she admired, like her late idol.

Janelle Monáe was lightyears ahead in terms of planning. She took great pains to prepare, comparing herself to an art student. She told People before the event, “I go as an art student. You have an assignment. This is the theme. And me and my team are literally like art students collaborating on a group project, and we’re there.”
