Florence Pugh, Dev Patel And Jason Momoa Make It To The ‘Star Wars’ Cast By Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson, the host of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show‘, took up the challenge of reimagining the 1977 film ‘A New Hope‘ from the franchise and laid out a list of actors she would cast for each of its iconic characters, including Yoda because he is a fan favorite though not in the film.
Clarkson started by giving a preface of her admiration for the original cast. “The original cast is already perfect. We love them. No dissing. No shade! This is just for entertainment! So let’s recast Star Wars, shall we?” Clarkson said before making any picks.
For the iconic role of Princess Leia, the host fiddled with some options including some of the most talented actresses in the industry. Some of her top options were Anya Taylor-Joy, Zendaya and Millie Bobby Brown. However, she ultimately chose to go ahead with Florence Pugh for the role of the new princess while admiring her talent.
“I’m kinda obsessed with her,” Clarkson said of Pugh, calling her “pretty incredible.”
Next came the pivotal character of Luke Skywalker. For this role too, Clarkson had quite a few options including Tom Holland, Timothée Chalamet, and Harry Styles. But she singled out the ‘Monkey-Man‘ Dev Patel as the standout choice.

Kelly Clarkson Notes Matthew McConaughey “Can Play A Good A**hole” While Recasting For Star Wars
Meanwhile, for the charming Han Solo, Jason Momoa took away the role after being chosen over Matthew McConaughey. “It’d be funny to see him and Chewbacca next to each other. They’re both like these big, hairy beasts,” Clarkson said of the ‘Aquaman‘ star.
She however admitted that there’s “kind of a tie” between Momoa and McConaughey because “McConaughey can play a good a–hole.”
Next up, and easiest of all was the decision of casting an actor for Darth Vader’s role. Without a second thought, Clarkson unequivocally chose Javier Bardem for the role, though she had some appealing options like Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Joaquin Phoenix.
“Nobody’s gonna top Javier. Look, I’m just saying, this dude’s out here just being one of the hottest men alive, Javier Bardem,” Clarkson said, while also crediting his voice for the selection.
George Clooney was chosen to be the Obi-Wan Kenobi, while Kevin Hart was tapped to play the wisdom of Yoda.
Concluding her recasting, Clarkson noted that most of her choices are actors from ‘Dune‘ while noting that she’s actually a huge fan of the franchise. “Did I pick several people from Dune? I think I did,” she said. “There’s at least three off the top of my head. Well, I’m a big fan of Dune!”
