The movie franchise, ‘Princess Diaries,‘ was last seen on the screens in 2004. The story is based on Meg Cabot’s book of the same name. The American pop singer and actress, Mandy Moore, played the character of a school bully, Lana, in it.
During her appearance on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, she talked about her character in the movie franchise. She appeared only in the first movie, and quite unfortunately, Lana was missed in the sequel. Moore took a moment to talk about how her character could return to ‘Princess Diaries 3.’

Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway, was the heroine of the film, and her arch nemesis was Lana, the most popular girl in the school, and the antagonist of the plot. Talking about how her bully character could be incorporated in the movie, Mandy Moore suggested, “She’s done a 180. She’s turned her life around and she and Mia become really good friends.”
Mandy Moore said “she would be game” to make a comeback with Lana’s character. The angle she pitched for Lana certainly fits in, because it’d be quite interesting to see a friendship struck between Mia Thermopolis and Lana Thomas. Moore is all set to transform Dana Thomas from a mean school bully girl to a sweet, mature person.
Moore Addresses ‘Princess Diaries 3’ Rumors
Character return dream is one thing, and a movie’s return is another. When exactly is ‘Princess Diaries 3′ coming? When asked on the show about the potential third instalment in the movie franchise, Mandy Moore replied, “I have no idea. I have heard nothing about it.” The actress also added that she has only heard “rumors that are out in the zeitgeist” about the third film. The sequel, which was released three years after the success of the first film, was centred around Mia, her marriage and the crown. Anne Hathaway had even confirmed in 2019 that there was a script ready for ‘Princess Diaries 3.’
Director Garry Marshall, who directed the first two movies, was planning a third movie. “I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago. It looks like we want to do The Princess Diaries 3 in Manhattan,” Garry told People in March 2016. However, sadly he passed away a few months later in July 2016.
