It was in 2023 that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that ‘Thunderbolts’ would hit the theaters in July 2024. However, due to the ongoing Hollywood WGA, the project was pushed back a year with its new date being July 25, 2025.
‘Thunderbolts’ is studded with a star cast including Sebastian Stan who will reprise his role as Bucky Banners, Florence Pugh will be seen in the suit of Yelena Belova. Along with them, David Harbour as the Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost will also be seen in the project. Although the producers have retained the majority of actors, there are a few actors who walked out of the project.
Ayo Edebiri Will Be Replaced By Geraldine Viswanathan In ‘Thunderbolts‘
Deadline reported that Geraldine Viswanathan will join Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ in place of Ayo Edebiri. Because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year, the project got pushed back, and unfortunately, Ayo Edebiri left the project due to scheduling conflicts. This is the second time an actor was replaced due to scheduling, the first was ‘The Walking Dead’ star Steven Yeun.
Geraldine Viswanathan gained popularity and admiration for her roles in ‘Cat Person’, and ‘Miracle Workers’ and now will finally debut in the Marvel project. Viswanathan thanked Ayo Edebiri for being “too booked” and instead allowing her to debut in a Marvel project.
While speaking with ComicBook.com Geraldine Viswanathan credited density for landing upon the MCU project. Viswanathan said, “I don’t know. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes, but I’ve always wanted to join the universe in whatever capacity, and this just came up. There’s a lot of … It was destiny. Destiny called me on the phone and I picked up and I said, ‘I’ll be there.’ Very excited.”

However, speculation suggested that Ayo Edebiri was going to play the assistant to Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the CIA’s director of the Thunderbolts team, There is a high possibility that Viswanathan might play the role since the spot is available. But there are chances that the creative heads might have assigned Geraldine Viswanathan an entirely different character.
