Robert Downey Jr. Explains How His ‘Oppenheimer’ Role Helped Him Grow As A Human Being

Marvel fans were left heartbroken with Robert Downey Jr.‘s exit. But freeing himself from the decades-long commitment has freed him to reinvent himself as an actor. The 58-year-old actor is back to working with great filmmakers. He appears in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ in a great supporting role, singling himself in a crowded cast of characters.

Robert Downey Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, a crucial figure in the military and political history of the United States of America. As the founder of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, he had a complicated rivalry with American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. While Cillian Murphy delivered a career-best performance, there’s no denying Downey went toe-to-toe with him.
