Selena Gomez Addresses The Effects Of Body-Shaming
Selena Gomez is one of those celebrities who has been vocal about important issues. She is a mental health advocate and openly talks about her struggle with depression and other things.
According to Page Six, the 30-year-old said she lied about the fact that body-shaming did not affect her. “I lied. I would go online and I would post a picture and I would say, ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m not accepting what you’re saying,'” she said.
Gomez said that despite trying to stay strong, she would still be “crying” her “eyes out because no one deserves to hear those things.” She said that she maintained a strong demeanor because “I didn’t want it to bother other people who are experiencing the same thing.”

Gomez Has Slammed Body-Shamers In The Past
In 2014, Gomez was diagnosed with lupus and has since been using medications for it. Last month in one of her Tiktok lives, the ‘Only Murders in the Building‘ actress talked about her weight gain.
Gomez stated that her lupus medications cause weight fluctuations in her body. “When I’m taking it, I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally“, she said.
She added: “When I’m off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight. I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through and no one knows the real story.”
