Selena Gomez gained global prominence for her role as Alex Russo in the Disney channel’s television show ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’. Peter Murrieta, the head writer and executive producer of the show’s first three seasons, has revealed something about the character.

In his appearance on the ‘Wizards of Waverly Pod podcast, Peter said that they wanted to make the character bisexual by exploring her relationship with Stevie. “I wished we could have played more with what was quite obvious to a lot of us was the relationship between Stevie and Alex“, he said.

He further explained, “But we weren’t able to in that time…it was pretty clear to all of us what that relationship was. That would’ve been fun.” After four episodes, Stevie was written off the show.

Peter said that there were no LGBTQ characters on Disney at that time. “But, we got as close as we could. I mean it was pretty close. It was pretty much right there,” he added.
