Seth Rogen Says He Is Not Into Marvel Movies As They Are “Geared Toward” Kids

Seth Rogen has been in the industry for a while and has acted, written, and directed several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films. However, unlike many, the ‘Superbad‘ actor is not really interested in the Marvel superhero movies.

In a recent interview, the 40-year-old said that these movies are “geared toward” kids and they are not for him. For someone who serves as a producer on the superhero series ‘The Boys‘, it’s a pretty unusual statement. So let’s find out the details of what and why Rogen said.

Seth Rogen has mostly associated himself with comedy. He has acted, written, produced, and directed several comedy flicks in his career. However, he is not a very big Marvel fan.

In an interview with Total Film magazine, Rogen (who is also one of the producers of ‘The Boys‘) said that the series would “not exist or be interesting” without Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). But he does not watch those films.

He called Marvel chief Kevin Feige a “brilliant guy” and that the “filmmakers he’s hired to make these movies are great filmmakers,” he said. “But as someone who doesn’t have children… It is [all] kind of geared toward kids, you know? There are times where I will forget“, he added.

Rogen further said, “I’ll watch one of these things, as an adult with no kids, and be like, ‘Oh, this is just not for me.’”

In the past, several filmmakers have criticized Marvel movies. This includes James Cameron, Francis Ford Coppola, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

In 2019, Scorsese compared them to “theme parks.” Tarantino has also called out the “Marvelization” of Hollywood and said that won’t’ do these films because one has “to be a hired hand to do those things.”

Cameron also slammed the superhero films and said those characters “never have kids“. He continued, “They never really have to deal with the real things that hold you down and give you feet of clay in the real world.”
