Taylor Swift is redefining versatility — not just in terms of music, but in terms of newsmaking. The pop sensation has been in the news not just for her brilliant music, but also for her relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce, her private jets, and now for the potential influence she has on the results of the upcoming US presidential elections.
While there already have been some accusations about her orchestrating her relationship to influence the elections, TV show host Bill Maher suggested that Taylor Swift could play a significant role in the upcoming 2024 election. He did not stop at that — he also went on to highlight how Swift has never dated a black man, and how that can work against her.

Bill Maher Says Taylor Swift Can “Literally Swing The Elections”
Bill Maher is known for his outspoken views, and he did not disappoint with his recent comments on the latest episode of his show while talking about Taylor Swift. Maher brought his viewers’ attention to Swift’s potential impact on the American political landscape.
Addressing his panel including some heavy names like sports commentator Bob Costas and social critic Caitlin Flanagan, Maher admitted a momentary hesitation in bringing up Swift as a “national news story.”
“This is a national news story in the sense that this is a person who could literally swing the election,” Maher said. “I don’t know what that says about this country, but I would just say to the MAGA people, ‘You should be very careful attacking her because this is someone who transcends parties,'” he added.
He also noted that Taylor has never dated a black man. “I’m just saying… She’s had a lot of boyfriends that we all know about! If MAGA’s full of racists, they gotta love that!” Maher said, referring to Trump supporters who follow his famous ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) movement that started during the 2016 US presidential elections.
Maher noted that Taylor is dating an NFL player in a “league that’s 80% Black. She couldn’t find one there?!” The political commentator further underlined Swift’s ability to mobilize voters, particularly among the younger demographic.

“You Could Be Waking A Sleeping-Until-The-Afternoon Giant”: Maher Warns Trump Supporters Against Attacking Swift
Maher further suggested that attacking her would not be wise, as her supporters might not be as politically engaged and are likely to blindly follow her word. “I’m just saying, this is somebody you could really get in trouble with as far as attacking for MAGA because Trump’s people, they’re already registered and voting for him,” Maher said.
“Her voters perhaps are not registered at all, and she doesn’t have to say who she’s voting for. All she has to say is get registered. They know who she’s voting for,” he said. “So I think you could be waking a sleeping-until-the-afternoon giant.”
“Some Republican media pundits have ridiculed Swift in recent months,” Maher further noted, referencing to Charlie Kirk and Jack Posobiec. Both had expressed concerns about Swift’s potential impact on young voters, with Kirk warning about her ability to mobilize fans in the presidential election. “We’re going to be like, ‘Oh wow, where did all these young female voters come from?’ We better have a plan for that,” Kirk had quipped.
Swift’s influence on the political stage has caused several conspiracy theories, including one suggesting she is a Pentagon asset. Another one proposed that she will endorse Biden during the Super Bowl halftime show. Swift has openly endorsed Biden in 2020, but her stance for the 2024 election remains publicly unconfirmed.
