Hiroyuki Sanada In ‘Shogun’
The Japanese actor portrayed the character of the warlord in the historical drama “Shogun,” which is based on James Clavell’s book of the same name. The series revolves around Japanese warlords and an English sailor whose ship was wrecked.
Talking about the series, the actor said, “Although the characters are modeled after real people, ‘Shogun’ is a fictional story, For viewers to become immersed in the world inside the story, we need to make it authentic. Our starting point was a Japanese period drama that would not seem unnatural when viewed by Japanese people.”
The show, so far has received wonderful feedback from the audience, most of which revolved around Sanada’s portrayal of the warlord. Though the series has been successful, more seasons aren’t expected as the show’s co-creator, Justin Marks, confirmed that season 1 is where it ends. “We took the story to the end of the book and put a period at the end of that sentence.”
Nevertheless, fans can now expect to see more of Sanada in a possible ‘Star Wars’ role.
