Taron Egerton Talks About Playing James Bond
Welsh actor Taron Egerton is mostly known for his performance in the action comedy ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ and ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle.’ People have seen a glimpse of James Bond in his performance.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph to promote ‘Tetris’, the 33-year-old actor said that he is not fit to play the British spy agent. He said that he has received “zero phone calls” about it, stating that he feels he isn’t “the right choice” for the role.
Egerton stated that he does not have the body type to play the physically fit 007 agent. “You have to be consistently statuesque to be that guy. And that’s something that I am still striving for. I’ve always struggled with my weight,” he said.
Adding, “[Bond] is a bit like being a brand ambassador as well as being an actor. And that could be really fun in microcosm, but I’m sure I read that Barbara Broccoli said that it’s a 15-year commitment.”

Egerton Talks About Straight Actors Playing Gay Roles
In the same interview, Egerton talked about the ongoing debate on whether straight people should play gay characters in films and shows. This was in reference to him playing singer Elton John in ‘Rocketman.’
“I grew up in a very liberal town, and a couple of my close friends are gay. I feel an affinity with that community,” Egerton said. “I don’t particularly feel that there should be a blanket rule about whether straight actors should play gay roles.”
He then acknowledged that as a straight person, it would be easy for him to make statements regarding this matter. “That’s very easy for me to say as a straight man, but I think that’s possibly a precedent not worth setting,” he said.
