The long royal saga of the British Royal family is still going on. The fifth season of ‘The Crown‘ is scheduled to be released in one go on November 9, on Netflix. And the upcoming season will focus on one of the most difficult times of the Royal family- from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. This will also include the year 1992, described by the Queen as “annus horribilis”. The year had seen the divorce of three of her four children and the catastrophic fire at Windsor Castle.
The first-look pictures that have been released clearly give the audience a gist of the series. From Diana and the Queen to Camilla and Charles, all pivotal characters have made it to the first set of pictures released. With the death of Queen Elizabeth and the coronation of Charles III, there would be more viewers ready to know the life of the royals.

‘The Crown’ Season 5 First Look Pictures Out
Being a series based on real-life incidents, it can be noted that the visuals of the series are much more important. It would always be under evaluation as to how well alike the actors are to their real-life counterparts. It can be noted that the cast is replaced every two seasons to show the passing of time. Each season to an extent covers up to a decade of the lives of the royal family. Imelda Staunton and Jonathan Pryce in this season would be doing the role of Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip.
One of the stills shows a lonely-looking Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki wearing a sparkly gown with shoulders hunched and heads bowed as she heads out for an evening engagement. Another image is of Prince Charles played by Dominic West and his mistress Camilla Parker Bowles played by Olivia Williams, both beaming at the fireworks outdoors. There is also a snap of Diana and Charles in a speed boat along with their young sons, Prince Williams and Prince Harry.

With a show that prioritizes the cast and Imelda Staunton on lead, everyone can think only of the actress in her previous role as Dolores Umbridge.

There also have been disagreements on how well the casting has been done. When some were unsure of Debicki as Diana, others seem to be happy about it. While there were others who wanted Matt Smith to come back as Prince Philip.
