Over ten years since Martin Scorsese‘s blockbuster hit film ‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘ entertained audiences worldwide, its real-life counterpart decided to take the gloves off. The highly rated 2013 biographical drama was based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, the well-known stockbroker who pleaded guilty to massive financial fraud and stock market manipulation and served time in jail in 2003. Although the film caused many controversies because of its highly glamorized representation of substance abuse and financial crime, a brand new docuseries attempts to destroy the illusions that Martin created and tell the untold truth.

This summer, on July 14, viewers will get their hands on the three-part television series streaming on Paramount+. ‘The Real Wolf of Wall Street‘ will uncover the real price that Stratton Oakmont paid. With never-before-seen videos of Belfort’s notorious yacht parties and archival footage, the documentary reveals the high human cost of the most reckless era of Wall Street.

Discussing his onscreen casting in the official trailer, Jordan Belfort expressed his relief over Leonardo DiCaprio’s role, joking, “I prefer him than Danny DeVito playing me.”

The docuseries then pivots to expose the criminal network surrounding the former CEO while exploring the life of his real-life second wife, Nadine Macaluso—the inspiration for Margot Robbie’s character, Naomi Lapaglia, in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’

The basic idea of the TV series on Paramount+ is the price, which is not mentioned in the movie. According to one of the interviewees in the trailer, “What’s missing from the movie is that there is a price to pay.”

While the movie featuring Leonardo DiCaprio centers entirely on Jordan Belfort’s perspective, the docuseries amplifies the voices of victims and critics who remain furious at the FBI informant.

From Hollywood Movies To Contemporary Business Activities

As shown in the movie, after his imprisonment, Belfort began giving motivational speeches. However, despite the court ordering Belfort to repay $110 million to the victims, reports showed that, up until 2018, he had repaid only $12.8 million. Therefore, Belfort’s current business activity serves to repay all debts.

Moreover, the man published ‘The Wolf of Investing: My Insider’s Playbook for Making a Fortune on Wall Street‘ and continues to offer economic commentary on various podcasts.

Belfort’s business strategies are constantly evolving to keep pace with the new financial landscape. Back in 2018, the man made a viral YouTube video titled “The Bitcoin Market has Finally Run Out of Greater Fools…,” in which he expressed his attitude toward the cryptocurrency market. Afterward, he changed his mind and now organizes crypto workshops.

On a personal level, Belfort remarried for the fourth time, this time marrying Argentine actress Cristina Invernizzi, the star of the series EN EL BARRO.

They document the couple’s luxurious life on social media and even make jokes about the past. For example, the video showing Belfort standing in a room flooded with money is labeled the boardroom of Stratton Oakmont.
