The New York Film Festival red-carpeted to celebrate the premiere of ‘Elton John: Never Too Late‘, where an emotional Elton John spoke candidly about his journey through health and family. The singer attended the event on October 1, with his husband, David Furnish, and co-director R.J. Cutler by his side.
The rock legend bared his soul regarding the effects of getting older during the event and also spoke about the health crisis he emerged victorious out of because of the love from his family and friends. Here’s everything he said.
Elton John Thanks His Family And Fans For Helping Him In His Sickness
Addressing the public at the premiere of ‘Elton John: Never Too Late‘, John Elton said, “To be honest with you, there’s not much of me left. I don’t have tonsils, adenoids, or an appendix.” Adding more to how dire his health situation is, he further continued, “I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip, a left knee, or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip. But I’m still here!”

After revealing all of it, Elton expressed his appreciation for his fans, telling the world that he was surviving because of his family and his fans. The icon, now 77 years old, also sang sweet nothings to his audience while singing a moving version of ‘Tiny Dancer‘, but was quick to pay tribute to the people dearest to his heart.
“I want to thank David and Zachary and Elijah for making me the happiest man in the world,” John said, referencing his husband and their two sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, whom they welcomed via surrogate.
Elton John Says He Is Satisfied With His Life And Success
Elton John, who married David Furnish officially in 2014 after nearly a decade of being civil partners, admitted he is more than just completely happy since becoming a family man. “I found complete and utter happiness and bliss when I met David and when I had our children. I’ve never felt happiness like I have now,” he said.

Reflecting on his decision to retire from touring after what was to be his final performance of the ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road‘ in July 2023, Elton added, “I’ve done all there is to do, and I’ve succeeded. But the most important thing in my life now is my family. I’ve found utopia, and I’m so thrilled.”
Even with his health problems, from a recent slipping mishap in France to an eye infection that brought him some close-to-bad times, Elton is upbeat, indicating there’s still room for music in his life—just with much more focus on those who count the most.
