However, his accidental live had captured an extremely intimate moment. He has now expressed his embarrassment over the whole situation being streamed to millions, and clarified what exactly had happened.

The broadcast, which ended after nearly two minutes, was followed by a now-deleted statement on X claiming that his account had been “hacked.” However, Sharpe later admitted in an emergency episode of his podcast, Nightcap, that the live was indeed genuine and not the result of a hack.

Additionally, he expressed his embarrassment and disappointment over the incident, acknowledging that he had let many people down. “I’m someone that is extremely, extremely private and to have one of your most intimate details, the audio, heard for the entire world to hear? I’m embarrassed for a number of reasons,” Sharpe shared.
He emphasized that he was in the privacy of his own home when the accident occured. However, he still felt a responsibility to maintain a level of professionalism. “I still try to remain a level of professional, although I’m in the privacy of my own home. And I’m very disappointed in myself,” he said. He further clarified that he wasn’t ashamed of the act but that millions of people saw it and were let down.

Shannon Sharpe also clarified the circumstances surrounding his accidental live. A lot of people were speculating about the authenticity of the situation due to its bizarreness. However, Shannon emphasized that the incident was entirely unintentional and not staged at all.

He explained that he entered his room, tossed his phone onto the bed, and engaged in a private activity without realizing that his Instagram Live feature was active. He further explained that he only became aware after his other phone started ringing. “My heart sank. It dropped,” Sharpe explained.
He further explained that his marketing assistant was behind the X post claiming that his account got hacked. However, overwhelmed by the realization of the live, Sharpe decided to be honest about the incident. “I called my agent, I called the agency, I called ESPN and I thought, ‘I just got to tell them the truth.’ My phone wasn’t hacked. It wasn’t a prank. It was me being a healthy, active male,” he added.
