    In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 34-year-old actress talked about the strong responses it provoked. “As hard as it is to hear when people don’t like your film, it is what it is“, she said.

    She further said: “It was not a movie that was made to please people or to make people like it. It is a hard movie to watch.” Ana then stated that the film does not speak badly about Monroe but it “speaks badly about the environment and the industry.”

    In the same interview, the actress talked about how she protected herself from shooting difficult scenes. She said that she had immense trust in the director and they prepared for nine to ten months.

    Those scenes — sometimes they look harder for the audience than what is actually happening on set, because I can tell you: The environment on set was very nice“, she said.

    She said that everyone on the set “was having a great time because they’re very creative environments.” For the role, she has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, which makes her the first Cuban woman to receive an Oscar nom.
