Taylor Swift was in disbelief when she read the news of her recent album ‘The Tortured Poets Department‘ marking her 14th No. 1 album by Billboard. In response to the headline published by Billboard on X, Swift wrote, “What do you MEAN.” Reposting the news on her social media platforms, Swift was evidently marveling at the overwhelming support for the album for her fans.

‘The Tortured Poets Department’ has managed to break several records with a staggering 2.61 million equivalent album units earned in its debut week in the U.S. According to Billboard’s statistics, it is the top-selling album of 2024 so far. The week it was released was the “largest streaming week ever, the second-biggest week for any album by units earned, the third largest sales week in the modern era, and the biggest sales week for vinyl in the modern era“.
Of the album’s 2.61 million units, 1.914 million were for traditional album sales, while streaming equivalent album (SEA) units totaled 683,000. The track equivalent album (TEA) units amounted to 14,000.

Taylor Swift is overwhelmed with the success of her album and she is showering her fans with gratitude on social media. Sharing some behind-the-scenes glimpses of the album’s creation on her social media, Taylor wrote, “My mind is blown. Feeling completely overwhelmed.”
Alongside the photos of herself and her collaborators like Post Malone and Florence Welch, she further wrote, “I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough,” hinting at her excitement about the upcoming leg of her Eras Tour.

Taylor is now eagerly anticipating her return to tour, with the European leg of The Eras Tour kicking off on May 9 in Paris. Meanwhile, fans are rife with speculation that Swift may modify the setlist of her performances and incorporate elements of the ‘Tortured Poets’ era into them. With Paramore set to open the European leg of her tour, Swift will mark her presence in several countries, including Sweden, Portugal, Spain, the U.K., and Germany, among others.
