    The silver fox of Hollywood George Clooney has become one of the most successful actors in the industry. Clooney held the title of the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ twice. The actor got his big break in the heist film ‘Ocean’s 11.’ He is a two-time Academy Award winner and won the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the Emmys in 2010.

    George was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He climbed his way up to superstardom and wealth facing struggles. He was born to Nina Bruce and Nick Clooney. His father was a newscaster at Lexington, KY. As a child, he also went through a lot of illnesses. He caught laryngitis and suffered through Bell’s Palsy triumphing through difficult times. He aspired to become a journalist but left his studies to become an actor. While on the journey, he took up many odd jobs.

    George Clooney Worked As A Chauffeur For His Aunt

    During his school days, the actor was a charismatic and optimistic teen. He was a nerd and an athlete. He was the president of his school’s science club. Clooney also played basketball for his school. He tried his hands at basketball to play for a major league. George even tried out for the Cincinnati Reds in 1977, but he did not get selected. But, in his early teens, he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father. So, he enrolled in Northern Kentucky University’s Broadcast Journalism program in 1979. However, he dropped out mid-course to pursue his passion.

    After dropping out of the course, Clooney sold lemonade to save up for Hollywood. Then, he left for Los Angeles for his acting career. When he was in LA, Clooney faced a lot of hardships. In his initial days, he lived with his aunt, the famous singer Rosemary Clooney. The actor worked as a chauffeur for her, driving Rosemary to concerts. During an interview with Howard Stern, the actor admitted he sold women’s shoes to make ends meet.

    Despite visibly burning passion, George Clooney’s father was not happy with his decision. Nick Clooney said, “George, please… there are 50,000 broadcasters making a living right now. There are 3,000 actors making a living. For heaven’s sake, not acting. Don’t be an actor.” When Clooney set out to act, he shot for eight TV pilots which did not release.

    He did not have a spectacular entry on the celluloid. The actor starred in films like ‘Combat Academy’, ‘Return To Horror High’, ‘Return To Killer Tomatoes’ which fizzled out at the box office.

    Clooney was still an unknown face till 1994. In 1994, he landed the role of Dr. Doug Ross on ‘ER’. The actor then went on to become a successful actor, producer, director, entrepreneur and the sexiest man alive!
