Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears first met as kids for ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’, and later reunited as youngsters when they entered the music business. Britney established herself as a solo artist, and Justin went ahead with the band NSYNC.

Their romance was reaching heights, but things came tumbling down in 2002 and they parted ways. Not just fans, for Timberlake’s mom also, his relationship with Britney Spears was like a fairy tale.

In an interview with Contact Music in 2006, Lynn Harness said she was very unhappy with their split. “Britney grew up on my living room floor, I still love her to death,” she admitted. For her, the two “were together 10 or 11 years and had, from day one, that chemistry between them.” So it was disappointing to see her son break Britney’s heart. She added about the ‘Toxic’ singer, “She’s a sweet girl. I just hate what she’s going through now.”

Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears became one of Hollywood’s best couples in the 2000s. They supported each other, matched clothes, gave each other nicknames, and made music together.

In 2001, Britney told The Guardian, “I’m not ashamed at all to say that I love him from the bottom of my heart. As far as love is concerned, with him, too much is not enough. He’s everything,” she said, adding “With him, it’s still the same as I felt two years ago. But it is a deeper love now than when I was younger. Like, we’ve gone through so much together and we’ve known each other since we were 12 years old. We know each other inside and out.”

However, the impending doom hit them. Timberlake opened up to People about the breakup and said, “You get to a point when you’re crying yourself to sleep every night. I feel like I’m in the middle of a soap opera. I honestly know what it’s like to have a broken heart. I love Britney, and I’ll always love her.” Britney, on the other hand, maintained scheduling conflicts as the reason for their split.

Things turned ugly when Timberlake’s ‘Cry Me A River‘ featured a Spears look-alike and lyrics pointed towards what went wrong between them, and the ‘Selfish‘ singer responded, “It was hard for me that he was so exploitative.”

Cut to 2023, Spears revealed in her memoir that she got pregnant with Timberlake’s child but he wasn’t ready, he apparently broke up with her over a text also. He faced a lot of backlash over having portrayed himself as a victim of Spears’ cheating and mean ways after their break-up in the media. He even apologized to her.

But now when Britney is trying to end their bad blood, Justin is in no mood to do so. This feud only seems to be escalating, as old love can haunt forever.
