How Anne Hathaway Met Her Husband Adam Shulman?
Hathaway and Shulman first bumped into each other at the Palm Springs Film Festival in 2008. During that time, laying her eyes on him for the first time had Hathaway confessing to one of their mutual friends, that, “I’m going to marry that man. I think he thought I was a little nuts, which I am a bit, but I’m also nice.” The ‘Colossal‘ actress already sensed that he could be her life partner.
Before Adam, the actress was dating Raffaello Follieri, who was later arrested for fraud. Not one of those betrayals that Anne would want to be repeated since the public scandal and media scrutiny had taken a toll on her. Compared to what she went through because of her ex, Adam entered her life as a promise and a hope.
The actress has talked highly of his husband multiple times. She has given him credit for changing her perspective on life and making her feel more confident. One of those appreciations includes, when Anne shared, “I’m a different human than I was then. I think the accepted narrative now is that we, as women, don’t need anybody. But I need my husband. His unique and specific love has changed me.” She also said, “He changed my ability to be in the world comfortably.”
The two got engaged in late 2011. The following year, they got married. They had a small, private wedding ceremony in California, Big Sur in September 2012. According to People, the guest number was more than 150. Since it was a weekend wedding, the celebrations started with a rehearsal dinner on Friday.
What Does Adam Shulman Do For A Living?
Enough about the love story of these two, let’s move to Adam’s professions. Like her incredible wife, Adam, too, is multi-talented. Academically, he graduated with a degree in theater from Brown University.
He has five acting credits, his most famous one is on NBC’s ‘American Dreams’ in which he played the role of Paul O’Bannon. He’s also a producer. In 2014, he and Anne collaborated to produce an indie drama film, ‘Song One,’ starring the actress. Hathaway praised him for his work, even saying, “I actually learned a lot from him in the process.”
Apart from being a producer and an actor, Adam is also a jewelry designer. He started his own jewelry company, James Bank, in 2010 with partner Heidi Fink. Surprisingly, Shulman met Fink on the set of Anne’s film, ‘Alice In Wonderland‘, where Fink was in charge of the jewelry and props.
Lightkeeper was the first piece produced by the duo, Shulman-Fink. The story goes, “My wife said to me, ‘I feel like when I’m away, I lose my light, I don’t have the light in my life with me.'” The piece is in the shape of a lightbulb, with the choice of stones that one would want in it. Adam even created and designed Anne’s engagement ring. The emerald-shaped diamond ring is, in fact, the creation of Shulman.

Anne and Adam share two lovely children. Their eldest, Jonathan Rosebank Shulman, son, was born in March 2016. Then, in the summer of 2019, Anne shared a photo on her Instagram and surprised her fans with her second pregnancy update. The couple welcomed another boy, Jack, in the November of the same year.
Two months after Anne had her first son, she praised her husband’s parenting and told Entertainment Tonight, “As was to be expected, he is spectacular.” Later, in 2020, talking about having more children, Anne made unsure comments. She said, “I don’t know. Like, some minutes I’m like, ‘Yes, absolutely,’ and some minutes I’m like, “The world scares me too much,’ and I think I’ve got two healthy ones and that feels really great. So I don’t really know yet.”
