One of the fan-favorite Avengers, Iron Man is portrayed by the remarkable actor Robert Downey Jr. For RDJ, the role of Iron Man was a great comeback to his acting career after his long battle with his addiction to drugs and drinking. And it was his wife, Susan Downey who played a great role in helping him out of his misery.
“Susan, you are my bedrock, touchstone, and lucky stars to boot,” tweeted on their 17th wedding anniversary. The couple did not fall in love at the first sight, but it was more of a gradual process of how they knew that they were perfect for each other. All About Susan Downey
The 49-year-old was interested in the movie business from a very young age. She was the daughter of Rosie and Elliot Levin, a businessman. Susan Downey moved to California so that she could pursue a career in film production. Finally, Downey graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. She served as a producer for many films including ‘The Brave One’, ‘RocknRolla’, ‘Orphan’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
Susan met the ‘Dolittle’ actor while he was acting in the supernatural psychological thriller film ‘Gothika’ in 2003. Susan was the producer of the film. Robert starred alongside Halle Berry and Penelope Cruz in the film.
Susan shared one of the first instances where she found her future husband to be “interesting but weird”. “Everybody else ordered Japanese, but Robert told us how oatmeal was the ‘superfood.’ He brought his own packets of oatmeal to have at lunch. And he had this box of various herbs and stuff. And then he started doing these yoga moves, ” Susan recounted to The Hollywood Reporter in 2014.

Downey Jr. And Susan Being The ‘Perfect Couple’
The two tied the knot on August 27, 2005, after being engaged for almost two years. Susan was the one who helped Robert Downey Jr. get one of his biggest hits in 2008, ‘Sherlock Holmes‘. She was also the one that helped him overcome his drug addiction. The couple shares two kids- son Exton and daughter Avri Roel.
In 2010, the couple started their production company named Team Downey. “Susan holds one pillar and I hold the other and this creative arc of tension just flows between us,” Downey said once about their marriage and their works together. The duo shares a lot of love and sweetness for each other which is evident through their wishes and gratitude online for each other.
