Who Will Replace Trevor Noah After His ‘The Daily Show’ Departure?

Trevor Noah announced his exit from ‘The Daily Show‘ after seven years of manning the desk. On September 29, 2022, Noah shocked fans when he announced his departure from the show during a monologue. The reason he cited is that he wants to give stand-up more time.

It looks like fans were not the only ones who were shaken after Noah’s decision. As per sources, Chris McCarthy, an executive with Paramount, higher executives and staffers were also shocked. Not only the audience, but everyone working behind the scenes came to know about his decision during the monologue.

Trevor had an agreement extension in June 2022 for two years. The offer was open to the comedian for another year’s extension. However, his sudden move certainly left them aghast. McCarthy reportedly also had lunch with Trevor the day before the announcement. During lunch, there were no signs of the comedian making any such decision. Now that he has finally moved on, the show’s future is uncertain.

There were conjectures that the show will move to Paramount+ after Noah exits. A Comedy Central spokesperson talked in an interview about the show’s future. The spokesperson said, “In time, we will turn to the next chapter of The Daily Show and all of our incredible correspondents will be at the top of that list.”

Talking about the present scenario, the person said, “Until then, we are focused on celebrating Trevor and thanking him for his many contributions.”

During his announcement speech, Trevor Noah extended his gratitude to the viewers. He said, “I want to say thank you to you, to you who watched this.” Noah said. “I never dreamed that I would be here. I sort of feel like ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.’ I came here for a tour of what the previous show was and then the next thing you know I was handed the keys.”

He also cited his reasons for departing from the show: “I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road, and when I got back out there, I realized there’s another part of my life out there that I want to carry on exploring.” Noah told what he misses by not going on tours, “I miss learning other languages. I miss going to other countries and putting on shows.” He did not reveal the last day of manning the desk.
