Chris Hemsworth has had a booming career. Since ‘Avengers: Endgame‘, the Australian MCU actor has seen such success, with his Asgardian performance earning him leading parts in a range of franchises and genres. He has done movies like ‘Extraction’, ‘Spiderhead’, ‘Men in Black: International’, and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‘.
Following his fourth solo adventure as MCU’s Thor he will next be seen as Dr. Dementus in ‘Furiosa‘ alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, as revealed in new set images. Just after that, Hemsworth will return to Netflix for ‘Extraction 2‘. There he will reprise his role as mercenary Tyler Rake. But, after those movies are completed, Hemsworth has decided on taking a break from acting.
Why Chris Hemsworth Announced A Break From Acting
Following some genetic testing for his show ‘Limitless‘, Chris Hemsworth has been diagnosed with some medical issues. Hemsworth has two copies of the gene APOE4. This has been linked to an elevated chance of getting Alzheimer’s disease in studies. He got one from each of his parents, and he informed that he would take a break from acting.
According to Hemsworth, this renders him eight to ten times more likely to get Alzheimer’s. The actor says it’s not surprising given that his grandfather is presently battling the condition.
He stated that the revelation isn’t “handing him his resignation letter,” but it is a red light. “If you look at Alzheimer’s prevention, the benefit of preventative steps is that it affects the rest of your life,” Hemsworth said. “When you have preposition to cardiovascular heart disease, cancer, anything—it’s all about sleep management, stress management, nutrition, movement, fitness. It’s all kind of the same tools that need to be applied in a consistent way.” Hemsworth thinks he is missing time with his family since he is “slapping another movie on top of another movie”.
“Doing an episode on death and facing your own mortality made me go, ‘Oh God, I’m not ready to go yet.’ I want to sit and be in this space with a greater sense of stillness and gratitude. And then you start talking about kids and family and going, ‘Oh my God, they’re getting older, they’re growing up and I keep slapping another movie on top of another movie.’ Before you know it, they’re 18 and they’ve moved out of the house, and I missed the window.”

Will There Be Any More Thor Movies?
Now that Chris Hemsworth has announced his decision to retire from acting, what will happen to Thor? After all, the last movie did give us hope for his return, as it said ‘Thor Will Return’.
Hemsworth hasn’t said much about his break, including how long it would continue. So we can’t speculate anything.
He told Vanity Fair that, after four solo films as Thor he may be done playing the character. “I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know — am I at that stage? Who knows?”
Although he added, that he would like to do another Thor movie if it’s “something unique and fresh and unexpected to do with the character and the world. I’ve always loved the experience. I’ve been very thankful I’ve been able to do something different each time.”
