Bill Hader is taking a stand against signing franchise merchandise. On the podcast ‘Happy Sad Confused,’ he told Josh Horowitz about being frustrated with an experience that led him to be done with handing out his autographs.
Bill Hader recalled how a father used his son’s fascination with the BB-8 droid to make money online. Hader, who partially voiced the ‘Star Wars’ droid, defined this moment as “f*****d up.” This was when he was turned off by the idea of being too accommodating to his fans.

Bill Hader Jokingly Recalls His Terrible Experience With A Fan
Bill Hader clearly stated his distaste for signing autographs for fans. During his conversation with Josh Horowitz, he recounted the fan encounter that still bothers him today. While stepping out of the ‘Inside Out’ premiere at the end of the day, he was cornered by a rowdy father. He used his son to have Hader sign the merchandise he wished to sell later.
Bill Hader said, “I used to sign stuff, and then one time I saw somebody and they had their kid come up to me to sign a BB-8 thing and it was three in the morning. I was leaving the ‘Inside Out’ premiere and then we went to an after-party thing and it was super late and this guy kept his kid up all night. [He was like], ‘Go over there so he’ll sign it so I can sell it online.’”

Despite this unpleasant experience, Bill Hader has much to be thankful for. The final season of his HBO series ‘Barry’ has opened to rave reviews. The critics are praising the show’s brutal final chapter. He spoke at length about his love for directing and convincing Guillermo Del Toro to appear on the show.
Bill Hader recently told The Independent about possibly bringing back his beloved ‘SNL’ character Stefon. He had doubts about reprising the character as a straight man in the past. But he’s since clarified his stance, saying gay men haven’t voiced any complaints against his portrayal of Stefon.
