Relationship Timeline of Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth
The couple’s journey over the previous ten years has been long and winding: before their split in August, there had been one major breakup, plenty of rumors for them to negotiate, and some trying times, including when their Malibu home was destroyed in the recent California wildfires. The stars met during the filming of ‘The Last Song’ and started dating during the shoot. They made their red-carpet debut on the premiere of the film and started stepping out in the open together since then. They got engaged in June 2012 when Cyrus was 19 and Liam was 22.
It was a whirlwind after that as the couple became a target of various breakup rumors and eventually postponed their wedding while still living together. Soon after that, the duo broke up and Miley started dating Patrick Schwarzenegger. Fast forward to 2016, the couple was spotted together at a music festival and Miley started wearing her old engagement ring. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth managed to have a low-key wedding at their Tennessee home on Christmas Eve weekend in 2018, which many people might have thought was unthinkable for a celebrity couple. However, as fate had it, their marriage wasn’t meant to last long as the couple got divorced approximately a year later.

Behind The Scenes of Miley and Liam’s Divorce
During the promotion of her seventh studio album ‘Plastic Hearts’ she appeared on the Howard Stern Show where she talked about her work and romantic relationships. She told Howard Stern that the 10-year relationship she had with Hemsworth came to an end because “there was too much strife” and that their 2019 divorce had nothing to do with her rehabilitation. “I want to be grounded by someone when I get home,” she explained. “I’m not a big fan of drama or fighting.” Cyrus and Hemsworth married in 2018 but announced their divorce in 2019.
According to Stern, Cyrus and the ‘Hunger Games‘ actor “lost everything.” In response to rumors about what led to her breakup with Hemsworth in September 2020, Cyrus gave a statement on a Joe Rogan Experience podcast: “I recently went through a very public divorce that f—ing sucked. What was really bad about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone I cared about realized we didn’t love one another like we used to. That’s OK. That’s fine with me.”
