Bautista is known for his goofy portrayal of Drax in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ franchise. However, the third installment will be his last film in the franchise and with Marvel.

In an interview with GQ Magazine, the wrestler-turned-actor said that he is grateful for the character and loves him. “But there’s a relief [that it’s over],” he said. “It wasn’t all pleasant.”

He said that it was hard for him to play that role. “The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy — it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff,” Dave added.

He will next feature in ‘Dune: Part Two‘, an M. Night Shyamalan thriller film titled ‘Knock at the Cabin’ among others.

In the past, the former WWE star expressed his dissatisfaction with the way his character Drax was handled. “I really wished they would have invested more in Drax, personally,” he said.

He said that the character had a story and an interesting backstory to tell which Marvel “dropped the ball on“. He further said that if the character was explored more, it “would have given me the opportunity to show different sides of Drax, emotionally. And physically as well.”

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ is slated to hit theaters in the United States on May 5, 2023, as part of MCU’s Phase Five.
